Online Pharmacy Tech Schools
Pharmacy technicians are professionals responsible for assisting licensed pharmacists to fill prescriptions and other tasks that are related to administration of medicines to patients. They are also involved in counting of tablets, labeling medicine bottles and conducting research on medication information and entering past patient histories onto databases. The pharmacy tech can work in hospitals, drugstore chains, online pharmacies, pharmaceutical wholesalers & retailers, grocery stores or in privately-owned drug shops.
The pharmacy tech courses are offered in both classroom-based and online modules. The online study mode is a distance learning module that allows students to study from the comfort of their homes or offices. The students are given the option of studying at their own pace and thus take exams only when ready. The mode of communication between the tutor and the student is through electronic means such as email.
The courses in the pharmacy tech online program include anatomy, physiology, poison & drug emergency, pharmaceutical calculations, medical terminologies, prescription information & labeling procedures. The program is offered as certificate where after the course an exam from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board is administered. Upon passing of the exam, one is expected to be recertified every 2 years. The program is also available at the diploma levels and associate degree levels.
